The Apple iPhone touch screen functionality is a thrill to use as well. This is due to its fluid nature and its multi-functionality. It acts as a dial pad, keyboard, safari browser and music and video player; depending on what you are doing.

February 11th, 2009 | Handheld Devices, Mobile Banking, Wireless Devices
The development of mobile banking is facing challenges, mainly because the applications used to support it are wanting in more ways than one. Let us take the case of the Interactive Voice Response, or IRV. This application only allows for enquiry services. As convenient as this might be in saving time and resources, its major drawback is that transactions cannot be carried out using IRV.
The same can be said for the SMS application. However, a solution to this can be found in the WAP technology. In mobile banking, WAP, or Wireless Access Protocol, applies a concept similar to that applied by e-banking. This is made possible by banks who maintain Wireless Access Protocol sites which their clients can access using a WAP enabled mobile phone or PDA. WAP forms support HTML forms and can be programmed with a host of security measures to make them more secure. This way, customers can be able to enjoy the full banking experience through mobile banking. In addition to the customary enquiry and transactions services, customers can conduct more sophisticated transactions, like brokerage transactions involving stocks transfer through their mobile phone.
How does Wireless Access Protocol technology work?
The mobile banking Wireless Access Protocol supported application requires the hosting of a WAP gateway. The gateway or hub consists of a server where the bank information files are stored. Mobile banking applicants access the bank’s site via the WAP gateway to carry out transactions. The WAP gateway links the mobile network to the Internet.

Much hype has surrounded the Apple iPhone since its introduction into the market. Apple iPhone has had an iron grip on the smart phone market. This is because in addition to its sophisticated design, it carries a host of features that set it worlds apart from other smart phones like the HTC smart phone. Some of the features, which set the Apple iPhone apart from other smart phones, include:
Bluetooth and Wireless.
While most smart phones available in the market do not have a wireless functionality like Bluetooth; the Apple iPhone boasts of a full range of wireless functionality with support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Apple iPhone automatically searches for Internet hotspots when browsing. In addition, it is equipped with a Bluetooth 2.0. This means that it is able to deliver faster transmissions over a longer range than smart phones equipped with the 1.2 version of the Bluetooth.
Messaging and e-mail.
The Apple iPhone engineers took this into consideration when designing the phone. The Apple iPhone can be used to send both text messages and e-mails. The Apple iPhone displays a text message thread as one long conversation. This makes it easy to view and select text options.
Apple iPhone menu integrates most of the popular e-mail accounts including Yahoo, Gmail, AOL as well as Mac accounts. The Apple iPhone can also be set to receive messages from other IMAP4 and POP3 system.
Safari Browser
This is one feature that truly sets the Apple iPhone apart from other smart phones. This is because the Safari browser displays web pages unlike other smart phones, which offer limited graphics.

The basic design helps to make it easy to use, with the talk and end buttons sectioned off in the top half of the keypad and the standard keypad located in its own section. The division of the two sets of controls will make it much easier to find the key you are looking for more quickly.
The Nokia 6301 is also quite a slim device, with overall dimensions of 106.8mm long x 43.8mm wide x 13.1mm thick and it weighs in at 93g. The display is a fairly standard 2” screen that is 240 x 320 pixels. Users have the option of downloading a variety of screensavers and wallpapers, in order to personalise the device.
This Nokia mobile phone comes complete with a built in 2 megapixel camera that is also capable of capturing video. There are 30 megabytes of internal storage and an expansion slot that supports an additional 2 gigabytes of microSD storage space.

The Samsung U800 SOUL is 111mm long x 46mm wide x 9.9mm thick. The phone is also something of a lightweight, at only 90.4g. One feature that potential purchasers might notice right away is that this particular SOUL mobile phone does not have the 5 megapixel camera that has previously been seen in the line. Instead, the U800 has a fairly decent 3.15 megapixel camera built into it. On the positive side, the camera does feature an LED flash and is capable of capturing video. A secondary camera has been incorporated into the phone to allow video calling capability.
This Samsung mobile phone provides an impressive 1 gigabyte of internal memory and if that is not sufficient, there is an expansion slot provided that supports microSD.
January 31st, 2009 | Orange, mobile technology
The mobile network operator known as Orange is actually owned by France Telecom. Today, the Orange Network and ISP service has around 17 million customers. Orange mobile offers users two ways to obtain their mobile service through the company. The first is the popular pay monthly program which many of us know as the basic style of service. The other option that users can choose from is called pay as you go service.
For users opting to take advantage of the pay monthly service, they will be required to sign a contract that is either 12, 18, or 24 months in duration. The purpose of the contract is to guarantee that the subscriber is allotted a specific amount of minutes to use each month on their mobile phone. The number of text messages a subscriber can send and receive is typically part of the contract as well. If the subscriber goes over the agreed upon minutes and text messages they will be likely charged additional fees for the services.
A pay as you go mobile phone requires the user to prepay for minutes and when the minutes run out on the phone, new funding will need to be applied to the device or it will no longer function. This can typically be done over the internet or by phone.
The Orange network is currently expanding to offer customers HSDPA support. Currently GPRS, EDGE, and 3G are supported although the majority of Orange’s customers still use their 2G options at the moment.
