LG GW520 – social networking at your fingertips

The GW520 has a tremendous keyboard, with large evenly spread out keys so that accurate typing is quick and easy.  It has arrow keys too that are handy if you need to scroll through loads of messages, which is a saving grace considering the touchscreen’s lack of sensitivity.

When you run your fingers across the LG GW520 home page, you enter LG’s Livesquare where your favourite contacts will appear as little icons, showing the number of messages they’ve sent you and your missed calls.  The icons are displayed in a field, a park or a zoo and look sweet when they wave to you.

You can personalise your home screen by dragging a limited number of widgets, making things like your email or the weather more easily and quickly accessible.  The phone also has an auto-predict when you manually type in phone numbers, so that even a number you dial frequently but do not have as a contact will come up for you.

There are lots of things that don’t really hit the mark with the GW520.  The touchscreen is unresponsive, the QWERTY keyboard slow, and the quality of pictures from the 3-megapixel camera is way below average.

You can access Facebook from the home screen but the images look squeezed together on the 2.8 inch screen.  You can’t add any applications so if you use any other social networking site, you won’t be able to access it on this phone.

Other similar phones to check out are the Samsung Beat DJ and the Samsung Genio Slide.

Mobile Cash Monster

Mobile Cash Monster is known as the sister site to Money4URMobile and is also operated by Redeem PLC. The process involved in selling phones at Mobile Cash Monster is very similar to Money4URMobile especially when it comes to the free postage envelope, the methods of payment either by cheque or BACS, and the fact that both companies accept working phones as well as damaged ones. However, Mobile Cash Monster has added features like buying not only old mobile phones and iPods but also MP3 players, and the company has a 7-day payment time instead of 10 days.

Mobile Cash Monster, with an official website at www.mobilecashmonster.com/consumer/ is willing to give you as much as £281 for your Apple IPhone 3G S 32GB, and £62 for your Nokia N73.

The first step to selling your phone at Mobile Cash Monster is to select a manufacturer from the dropdown list of 15 popular phone makers on the right side of the homepage. The page will load so that you can choose the model of your phone from the same dropdown list. After you have chosen the model of your phone, you will be offered a price. If you agree with this, you can click on the “Sell Now” button. You will be taken to the order form and then the personal details form, which you will then fill out. After the order is completed you will have to wait for the padded envelope that Mobile Cash Monster will send you and you post your phone in the envelope back to the company. If everything goes well, you can receive your payment after seven days via cheque or BACS.

Broadband comparison made easy!

When in the market for broadband internet services, a proper broadband comparison should be performed to make certain that not only the ideal broadband service provider is selected, but also the ideal level of service within this service provider is selected.  While there is a wealth of providers, all offering differing levels of service at a wide variety of prices, most broadband service providers can be placed in a few categories, each with their own relative significance to the buyer.  Price, download rate, upload rate, traffic caps, and history of service reliability within the company will all play a role of varying significance in a broadband comparison depending your personal needs and willingness to pay.

While price is always an important consideration, for most users the most important consideration is the expected download rate.  The overall “performance” of broadband service is the download rate, and as such it’s important for buyers to maximize this as best they can.  At the same time however, it’s important to note that price remains a factor, and not all increases in download rate are necessarily worth the increase in price.  All in all, so long as there is at least five megabits per second of available bandwidth for each simultaneous user on the connection, there is typically a sufficient level of capacity for the needs of most users.  All in all, this quality among others listed should be considered when making any broadband comparison.

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Contracts and Deals

The latest mobile phones are very often too expensive for most of us and if you don’t want to get involved with contracts it can be frustrating trying to find a decent phone that doesn’t cost the earth on pay as you go. The Nokia 5800 Xpress has been around for a while now; the mobile phone reviews are all good. This product falls into the multifunctional touchscreen category of Nokia mobile phones and is fairly chunky, again looking like quite a masculine phone.

It is supplied with a lot of kit packed in, the music player is one of the key features with the 5800 and the memory card slot means you can store a significant amount of music to take on the move. Your Nokia 5800 can also be used with mapping software and has built in GPS, so if you only need occasional sat-nav functions you could find that this phone means you don’t need to purchase a separate device that sits unused for months on end.  When you compare mobile phones this handset is clearly not quite in the iPhone league, however, neither does it have the massive iPhone price tag and what it does offer is well supported. There is a camera, which has good detail when the pictures are enlarged by transferring them to the PC, but not as much functionality as some of the other Nokia cameras. However, for a budget smartphone you are not going to go far wrong with the Nokia 5800 Xpress.

Motorola Rokr E8 Comparison

The Motorola Rokr E8 is a candy bar music phone that has such good quality audio it’s almost a dedicated MP3 player.  The phone is extremely slim at less than 11mm in width and it has a quite unusually styled keyboard.  It needs to be illuminated by a backlight to display the characters of the virtual keyboard.

It weighs 100g and standby battery time is just under two weeks; talk time is five hours.

Other phones that have similar features to the Rokr are Sony Ericsson’s W760i and W902 and the Apple iPhone.

The W760i is the best music-playing phone and its other functions come up to scratch as well.  It’s just a shame that the handset doesn’t come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The W902 is a great music phone plus it has an excellent camera.  Again, as with the W760i, there’s no headphone socket.

The iPhone does not have the best quality call sound, but as an integrated mobile phone and MP3 player, it’s the top of the line.

There are currently no monthly contracts for the Rokr E8, but you can buy the handset and add a pay as you go SIM card.

The Rokr E8 was available on Amazon and the cheapest handset on that site was £57.99. It was also on sale at play.com for £84.99. The same phone was available from Prepay Mania for £109.99, as a pay as you go phone on the Orange network.

Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Review

Another new release from Sony Ericsson is the X10 Mini. There seems to be hundreds of new phones hitting the shelves at the moment, with many, like this one, favouring the touch screen technology that clearly is the most popular choice amongst us mobile phone users.  The X10 Mini is another Sony masterpiece in terms of design and it really does look good, and yes as the name suggests this is one tiny little phone measuring in at just over 8 cm tall and 5cm wide.

It is packed with all the usual suspects in terms of features; it is now getting far more difficult to know which phone will be best for you. This one is going to be pushing its diminutive size as its major selling point.  It has GPS, Wi-Fi and more, including a camera and an MP3 player, which are similar in features to hundreds of other mobile phones.  But this phone also has the newer HSDPA technologies built in which makes high speed internet access a breeze.

In terms of new mobile phones and their appeal we think that this is going to really appeal to the girls, as it is potentially a little small for the men to easily work with their larger hands.  Compare mobile phones and you will find that this rates highly in terms of features but until it has been around for a few months the performance will not be measured accurately, so keep an eye on the mobile phone news and see how things develop.

BlackBerry Bold 9700 – stylish and compact

If you are in the market for a new contract mobile phone after comparing mobile phone reviews you may find yourself opting for a Blackberry Bold 9700 deal. The Bold 9700 has some of the latest mobile phone technology with a vast number of useful functions such as Wi-Fi for those who want to connect to the internet while on the move and 3G high speed downloads making surfing on the go fast and efficient. Other functions available on the Blackberry Bold 9700 are GPS, making trips out of town easier to navigate and Bluetooth, which is good for those needing a hands free option.

The Bold 9700 has a stylish slim line design, a good battery life when compared with other mobile phones and a sharp, clear screen making it easier to see at a glance with no eye strain. The keyboard on the Bold 9700 is very easy to pilot and the rollerball from previous models has been replaced with an optical trackpad. The camera on this phone is excellent for on-the-go pictures and boasts an autofocus function not found on many similar models.  Although picture quality is not of a professional standard, it is very good as far as mobile phones go.

There are very few negative points to the Bold 9700.  The menus may be a little confusing for those who are new to using BlackBerrys, and sound quality on the music player is only fairly average but again compared with other mobile phones the Bold 9700 holds its own.

What Type of Broadband Package to Buy?

The type of broadband package that you go for will depend very much on the type of internet user that you are. If all you need is a broadband connection for your home, then a basic package from the likes of O2 broadband or Tesco broadband will be sufficient.

An increasingly popular trend is for broadband providers to package other services such as cable TV and telephone into a bundle to reduce costs for the customer, who has just one bill at the end of the month instead of three separate ones. Virgin Media broadband and Sky broadband are very popular in this area of provision. For mobile broadband the broadband providers have separate packages, and in fact for any type of broadband it is as well to check a site such as Thinkbroadband, a broadband comparison site that goes into great detail on the different deals available, and the pros and cons of each.

Businesses should go for specialist business broadband packages. These come with higher download speeds and greater reliability. Another advantage is that they come with a comprehensive support package. If your business broadband connection goes down an engineer will be sent out to fix it, and there’ll be terms written into the contract about the maximum time it will take to get back up before compensation starts. Broadband suppliers such as BT Total broadband, Plusnet broadband and TalkTalk broadband all have business arms geared towards corporate clients.

Sony Ericsson Aino Contract Deals

There are so many deals on the market today for the latest mobile phones. After careful reading of mobile phone reviews you may decide that the Sony Ericsson Aino is the handset you are looking for. The next step is to get online and compare mobile phone deals. Most deals come with a free handset and there are a few deals that have free insurance or some kind of gift attached so it really does pay to shop around.

O2 are offering the Sony Ericsson Aino as a free handset when you take out an 18 month contract for £30.00 per month. Included in the package is 300 minutes of free talk time and 3000 free text messages and as an extra they are also offering a £40.00 cash back gift.

For slightly less per month at £25.00 there is the option to take up an 18 month contract with T-Mobile. They are also offering a free handset but their package comes with 300 minutes of free talk time and unlimited text messages plus three months free insurance. Rather handy if you may be prone to mishaps.

Alternatively Vodafone have a great deal with a free handset and 18 month contract.  It has 600 free minutes talk time and unlimited text messages, but this time the line rental is £35.00 which is more than the others, but they are offering a gift of 11 months half price line rental making this the cheapest deal at only £17.50 per month during the special offer period.
