What To Expect With Orange Home Broadband

Many Orange Home broadband customers would not think of switching to another provider. There are several good reasons for this, ranging from the reliability of connections to the excellent support. If you are new to Orange home and mobile solutions, here is what you can expect in terms of performance and support.

It doesn’t matter where you are, secure connections are found just about everywhere in the UK. For 3G users who find themselves in areas where 2G prevails there are no problems, you can easily switch to a 2G network with no trouble at all. This is very important to people who choose the mobile broadband add-on to their home packages, since it maximises the chances of receiving a strong signal and being able to enjoy the Internet even in somewhat remote locations.

Your 3G usage allowance is enough to handle just about any type of online activity you can imagine. Send and receive emails, use your favourite messaging programme to chat with friends and browse the Internet. You can also download both audio and video files quickly and easily and still stay within the terms of the fair use policy in your contract.

You’ll find that your Orange mobile broadband dongle works with a wide range of operating systems, including Windows and Mac. This can be important if you happen to have an older operating system, since many broadband providers are configured to make use of only the more recent systems for Windows and Mac.

In terms of support, Orange has several methods that you can use to get help when you need it. From the online tutorials and help tools to the easy access by email and phone to your support team, troubleshooting is a relatively easy process. However, the service is so reliable that you may find that you never have to call upon customer support for anything.

With all these plus points, is it any wonder that Orange customers tend to be loyal? Explore your options and get to know the Orange Broadband service. There is a good chance you can do a lot more than you thought possible.

Apple iPhone 3GS – still king of the hill

Strictly speaking, the 3GS version of the Apple iPhone isn’t a new phone, but rather an upgraded version of the iPhone 3G. That’s fine, as there have been significant improvements. The biggest difference any user would notice is in the speed, which is significantly faster than its predecessor. But there have been several other tweaks, including a better camera, and now users can also shoot video (and upload to YouTube directly from the handset if they wish).

The camera now offers three megapixels, much better than the old 3G, and the focus can be altered by tapping the screen, although with built-in auto focus, it really shouldn’t be too necessary. The increased speed of the phone means that all the apps load incredibly quickly, so that gamers are going to love it.

But, of course, the Apple iPhone 3GS isn’t perfect. Although the company claims that battery life is much improved, mobile phone reviews have found the opposite to be true, especially when running several apps; then it drains far too quickly. Also, sad to say, although the Apple iPhone 3GS is a wonderful machine for so many things, the quality of its phone calls hasn’t become any better. As a phone it is still just average.

However, it’s certainly far ahead of the 3G, and that was a major innovation. With the additions Apple has brought to this new handset, as well as the huge range of apps available, Apple remains not only the name brand, but also the undisputed leader in smartphones.

Samsung U600 Review

The Samsung U600 emphasises functionality despite being a slide phone, which is to say slide phones are really stylish. Most mobile phone reviews would say that this model actually goes right back to the basics, at least in appearance. It has touch-sensitive buttons for navigation, which give a “realistic” feel when pressing, but actually the pad is just a flat surface with vibration response for command recognition. Most critics feel that this feature is not really cool, since it has made the interface a little “weird” or awkward. Nevertheless, the phone’s other features are promising.

The U600 has an upgraded camera with 3.2-megapixels and auto-focus as compared to previous Samsung mobile phones, which had 3.0-megapixels. It is also one of Samsung’s thinnest handsets, at just 10.9mm. This is a quadband phone, which works with most of the networks and has a music player that can play MP3 files. It also comes with a TV-out connector for TV viewing of pictures. It is also a real lightweight, making it feel as if there’s nothing in your pocket or jacket.

Other features include a 262k colour screen, Bluetooth®, EDGE technology connection for faster downloads, an expandable memory card slot that reaches up to 2GB and a document viewer for .doc and .pdf files.

The Samsung U600 definitely represents good value for money, since it is relatively cheaper than most phones and take note, it is also a slide phone, so rest assured, it will never go out of style.

Nokia N96 – a powerful and understated smartphone

The Nokia N96 is a 3G smartphone designed to provide fabulous video, TV and great entertainment on the go. It can store 16GB of games, video, music and pictures.

With DVD quality videos, you will never get tired of watching them and uploading them to your PC for better viewing. It also supports video streaming and video playback. The white balance and colour tone can also be adjusted for a clear and vivid recording.

The N96 has a 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens, auto focus and auto exposure capabilities to help you take the best shots possible in whatever kind of lighting conditions. Once you have them stored you can automatically label or tag your pictures with a geo location from the GPS receiver. There will be no more time wasted, later on, trying to remember where you took that nice candid shot of your travelling partner.

What is special about the Nokia N96 is that it has a second camera that allows you to join 3G video calling. This feature enables each of the callers to see the other, live.

When travelling or just cruising around, there is no need for you to bring along those bulky road maps. The Nokia N96 has a built in GPS to guide you to your desired destination. You can download maps and even satellite pictures with this handy navigation system.

If you need to transfer data, the unit is equipped with EDGE technology and for wireless connection you can depend on WLan Wi-Fi connectivity. With its web capability, you can read Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds and stay in contact using e-mail with attachment capability, text message service and Instant Messaging.

This is definitely one cell phone you cannot do without.

Keeping It Basic with TalkTalk Broadband Essentials

For people who like their broadband deals to be simple and straightforward, TalkTalk Broadband Essentials is an excellent choice. The package offers benefits that are simple to understand and it is ideal for many households. Here is what you need to know about the Essentials programme.

One of the key features of the TalkTalk approach is the delivery of a reliable connection at a decent price. In fact, it is one of the most inexpensive packages available in the United Kingdom today. Even with the low price, you still receive a robust connection that can yield speeds of up to 24Mbps, if you go with an add-on to increase that speed. This is easily one of the best speeds offered by any broadband provider today.

Along with the excellent speed, you also get an ample usage limit each month. With 40GB at your disposal, there is a good chance that even avid Internet users will never have to worry about going over the limit. The wireless router allows you to enjoy connections from any computer in the home, which is always a nice touch and you can enjoy free calls to landlines anywhere in the UK, as long as they are made during off-peak hours.

There are a few things about the Essentials package that you should consider closely. TalkTalk does charge a connection fee for the service, but you can arrange to have the charge attached to your monthly account and pay it off over the first twelve months of use. There is also a requirement to enter into an 18month customer contract. For those who are wary of making a commitment longer than a year, this can be an important consideration.

Samsung U900 Soul Review

We have seen the rapid development of Samsung mobile phones in terms of internal functions as well as external or physical features and now, we have the newest model from the company that brought you the U-series phones, the U900 Soul.

Commonly referred to as the “Soul,” mobile phone reviews inform us that this is not your ordinary run of the mill phone. According to a review by mobile-phones-uk.org.uk, this is actually the first of the next generation of Samsung mobiles, at least in the slide phone class and despite the company categorising it under the U-series, it is simply called “Soul” by users, as if it had started a new line of Samsung products.

As previously mentioned, Samsung have designed the U900 Soul or ‘Soul’ to be the forerunner of a new family of slide phones. It seems that the Soul accumulated all the good stuff from its predecessors. It combines the touch-screen technology of the U600 and the ultra slim design of the D900. Though the Samsung U600 was thinner by two millimetres, at 10.9mm thick, the new Samsung Soul, 12.9 mm, promises users even more than the previous version could offer.

Since the Soul is a flagship phone, it is only to be expected that it will have edgy and top-end features. It is actually the first Samsung phone to have a 16million colour display, though its 5-megapixel camera now trails the best cameraphones produced by Nokia and Sony Ericsson. It has a metallic case, a very sleek and minimalist design and really flat surfaces, both LCD and the keypads. Apart from having a touch-screen display, it also has a “magical touch interface”, a touch-sensitive keypad, with icons that navigate its users to the various menus.

Sony Ericsson C510 Review

Among all the mobile phones currently available on the market, this could be the best there is, at least in the mid-range category. The Sony Ericsson C510 gives its users the ultimate flexibility, with its “standard” Sony Ericsson design and competitive features.

How do we describe “standard?” The Sony Ericsson C510 comes with its traditional candy bar-like structure, similar to other SE phones. Reviews always claim that the good thing about this standard SE phone body is its ergonomic design, which enables the user to have a very nice grip on the phone. This is definitely advantageous, especially for UK users who are becoming ever more addicted to texting.

Let’s forget about the mobile phone reviews for the moment and instead focus on the phone itself. The Sony Ericsson C510 is a cameraphone, since it falls under the C category. It is not like your Sony Ericsson C902 or C905, both of which have an almost professional picture-capturing capability that comes with a 5 or 8-megapixels camera. Instead, it has a 3.2-megapixel camera, complete with face detection, autofocus and SmileShutter™. The price matters, of course, so if you are thinking about how much it costs, don’t worry; it sells for half the price of either the C902 or C905.

Other features include LED flash, 3.2 digital zooming, video capture, 3G calling, high quality media player with TrackID, which identifies unknown music files, FM radio, Bluetooth®, 100MB of internal memory plus support for Memory Stick Micro™ of up to 4GB and web browsing capability.

How to Switch Broadband Providers with Minimal Fuss

From time to time, people will switch from one broadband provider to another.  The move may be due to poor service, cost or possibly availability or lack of suitable features. While switching can seem like an overwhelming task, the truth is that you can move from one provider to another with relative ease. Here are some tips that will help.

Your first task is to look at the terms and conditions that apply to your current broadband plan, when is it due for renewal and are there any terms that would allow you to terminate it early due to a failure of service delivery? Knowing these important facts will make it easier for you to schedule your switch without causing undue problems with your current provider.

In situations where you believe your provider is not delivering the service according to the terms of contract, maintain a record of each time you encounter a difficulty, how long it lasts and what degree of problems you have in resolving the issue. If there are charges associated with contacting your provider’s customer support team, also keep a running tally of those expenses.

When talking with potential broadband providers, let them know about your commitments with your current provider. Some providers will work with you and your current provider to arrange for your new service to go live even as your old service is discontinued. The best-case scenario is that you will not experience any interruption in service at all. However, always make sure you know the specifics of the cut-off, so you are prepared to do whatever is required at your end to prepare for the switch.

Knowing the status of your current contract will make it easier to create a plan of action that allows your new service to seamlessly transfer from your previous broadband provider. Plan the change carefully and the entire process will come off without a hitch.
