The Takeya Actives (71 cl)
A unique and practical cap
It is easy to drink from the spout of this bottle, easier to use than a sports cap. Its turning cap stays secure, without rubbing against your face when you drink. And its wide neck makes it easy to add ice cubes and other complements.

The Takeya Actives 71 cl is our favorite model for bottles with a spout. It is a double wall insulated stainless steel water bottle, Epoxy lacquered on the outside and fitted with a plastic cover. This cap has a handle and, this bottle having been designed for the gym, it has a silicone base to prevent it from scraping on concrete floors. But it is more difficult to find than our first choice, the Hydro Flask.
Unlike a classic sports cap, the Takeya’s spout, with its cap that turns over, is 100% waterproof. The water flows easily and at a glance you can see that it is properly closed. there’s no risk of leaving it ajar in your gym bag, flooding all of your clothes. When open, the cap can be attached firmly to the side, so you don’t have it in your face when you drink. The same cannot be said of the Camelbak Chute’s cover, which doesn’t fit well in the space provided.
The running water bottle, with its flip-over cap, is waterproof, which helps drinking. The cap stops when opened to avoid banging your nose with each sip.
The Takeya’s beak, with its flip-over cap, is waterproof, which helps drinking. The cap stops when opened to avoid banging your nose with each sip. KYLE FITZGERALD / WIRECUTTER
The entire top of the gourd unscrews, opening the way to a 5.7 cm diameter neck, which makes it easier to introduce lemon wedges or spoonfuls of energy powder than in the neck of 4, 4 cm from our first choice. Another detail that makes this bottle more suitable for the practice of fitness.
The Takeya exists in five formats: 53, 71, 95 cl, 1.2 and 1.9 L. We tested (and recommend) the 71 cl because, just like the other gourds, the 95 cl format is starting to get heavy for daily transportation. Choose the larger sizes if you keep this bottle in the car, take it to a sports training session or use it for an intensive exercise session. The Takeya website specifies that the stopper is bisphenol A free. This cover can be put in the dishwasher (in the upper part) but it is advisable to wash the bottle by hand. The Takeya product is guaranteed for life, upon presentation of a receipt.
The downside to having a spout instead of the traditional sports cap is that you have to screw the lid on with two hands (one holding the bottle, the other closing the cap). If you really need to open or close the bottle with one hand, or even with the mouth, it is better to prefer a flexible sports bottle, since the rigid rubber sports caps on double-walled bottles are very stiff.
